Access to data from malaria research is critical to effectively address the rise of antimalarial drug resistance. WWARN is encouraging wider collaborations and research opportunities to tackle resistance by supporting the research community to make data accessible. By building secure mechanisms to store and access data, WWARN also supports researchers to meet the data access requirements now mandated by many funders and journals such as PLoS journals. WWARN is a registered repository which meets the RE3Data standards.

Researchers who contribute data to WWARN will sign-up to the Terms of Submission.

Share your data now.

Within these Terms, contributors are asked to choose between two options of how decisions about data access are made:

Option 1: Data access through an independent Data Access Committee (DAC)
  • Details about your dataset, including title and PMID of the publication, will be listed in the WWARN Data Inventory. Researchers around the world will be able to request access to your data by completing a Data Access Request Form.

  • The data access request form will be sent to the Data Access Committee for review.

  • The Data Access Committee will consider if the request for data meets the WWARN Terms of Data Access.

  • If the request is approved, the approved researcher will be given a copy of the contact details you provide us. The purpose of this is to encourage communication and collaboration for better data analysis.

  • If the request is approved, WWARN will sign a Data Use Agreement with the requesting researcher. This agreement will restrict the use of the data to only what was outlined in the approved form.

  • After the Agreement is signed, a copy of your data in the format curated by WWARN, will be securely sent to the requesting researcher.

Option 2: Contributor-controlled access
  • Details about your dataset, including title and PMID of the publication, will be listed in the WWARN Data Inventory. Researchers around the world will be able to request access to your data by completing a Data Access Request Form.

  • A copy of the Data Access Request Form will be sent to you.

  • After reviewing the form, you can decide if a copy of your data is shared with the requesting researcher.

  • If you agree to give access to your data for the purpose outlined in the form, WWARN will sign a Data Use Agreement with the requesting researcher. This agreement will restrict the use of the data to only what was outlined in the form that you approved. The approved researcher will be given a copy of the contact details you provide us. The purpose of this is to encourage communication and collaboration for better data analysis.

  • After the Agreement is signed, a copy of your data in the format curated by WWARN, will be securely sent to the requesting researcher.
