WWARN’s Antimalarial Quality Surveyor has been integrated into the new Medicine Quality Scientific Literature Surveyor on main website, the Infectious Diseases Data Observatory (IDDO).
View the tool on IDDO to access user guides, methodology and associated resources.
The new MQ Scientific Literature Surveyor will continue to provide customised summaries of published scientific reports on the quality of antimalarials. However, the new version has been expanded to include reports on other essential classes of medicines across regions and over time, both in English and French
Substandard and falsified (SF) antimalarial medicines pose an immediate danger to vulnerable populations and could increase the threat of malaria drug resistance emerging and spreading. The major challenge in preventing the spread and distribution of poor quality medical products is the lack of accessible and reliable information on their prevalence.
The MQ Scientific Literature Surveyor responds to some of the critical gaps in information and it:
- Includes published data describing the quality of antimalarials
- Provides summaries of antimalarial quality reports per country
- Filters studies according to medicine, report type, collection type, medicine source and quality classification
- Supports the effort of national and international organisations working to provide malaria patients with quality-assured, effective medicines
