To accurately define antimalarial drug resistance, by differentiating true resistance from inadequate drug exposure, antimalarial drug concentration data need to be collated at an individual patient level so that standardized methodologies and definitions can be applied.

The purpose of the Pharmacology Data Management and Statistical Analytical Plan (DMSAP) is to present a clear and transparent methodology by which WWARN handles and analyses pharmacology data. Documenting the entire process by which data is uploaded, transformed, analysed and presented ensures reproducibility.
