Le Dr Newton s’intéresse à la santé publique et aux maladies infectieuses tropicales, en particulier leur épidémiologie et la façon dont elles peuvent être diagnostiquées comme il convient et traitées de manière optimale. Étant donné que des médicaments de bonne qualité sont un élément indispensable de la santé publique, il travaille avec un réseau de scientifiques et d’analystes criminels à examiner la qualité des anti-infectieux, évaluer les méthodes de détection et plaider pour que l’on veille davantage à améliorer la qualité des médicaments essentiels.
